The Flying Jacket

The Flying Jacket builds upon the Cyberjacket and indoor positioning to provide children with wearable interactive devices.

The magic flying jacket is a regular child's jacket that is embedded with accelerometers that detect arm movements and interpret them as gestures. These gestures are linked to abstract images that are then displayed on a nearby screen. The children use the jacket to find out about the Snark by making body postures, such as flapping their arms, banking left or right (like a plane). The Snark's response to these movements is shown through audio and visual displays. The Snark responds differently according to the movements the children make, displaying happiness, sadness or boredom. To encourage collaboration the Snark responds with more intense excitement when the children are working together (making the same actions).
