Mark Paxton
Research Interests: Summary
Having become involved with the MRL as an undergraduate in 2002 Mark Paxton has worked on a number of Equator projects including The Augurscope 2, Smart-Its, The Audio Chairs, Pushback Pins and SENSE. Specialising in microcontroller based systems he has built a variety of devices, including the "Wireless Shaky Egg" MIDI instrument and the variable LED and dial controller used on the Audio Chairs. After completing his undergraduate studies in 2003 he has embarked on a PhD in the area of context sensing in ubiquitous computing supervised by Steve Benford. His research investigates the role of dialogue between users and context sensing systems when establishing context. |
