Sam Woolf
Research Interests: Summary
I am researching the use of generative and interactive processes in New Media Art, and looking at how the form, content and perception of artworks and media systems are influenced when, primarily through the use of information technology, new aspects such as interactivity and generative processes are introduced. I am interested in how the various aspects of this effect manifest themselves in diverse media, from art installation and sculpture, to music, cinema and software art. As well as investigating some of the theoretical issues involved, and the methodology and practice of artists both contemporary and historical, I have also attempted to open out and further explore this area through the creation of new works of my own that attempt to use interactive and generative processes in novel and interesting ways that expand our understanding and use of New Media forms. |
